can settle ah?

it's really amazing that after a year in NZ, i haven't dropped any of the malaysian slang, it's an amazing feat actually considering that some get foreign slangs without leaving malaysia. amazing.

so i've settled the equipment part of the exhibition, i will be using two 20" televisions hooked up to 2 dvd players. i wasn't keen on using the dvd players as my 1st idea was to use a G5 with dual monitor capability but resource concerns arised and i don't really wanna spoil my day by writing about it. the only real problem is to synch the 2 movies up; but frenchy gave me a good idea or a rationale. the movies NEED NOT be in synch as the movies are seen as individual, the purpose of the experiment is to actually watch 1 movie and use the 2nd movie as a "filler" to better understand the story. this explanation actually makes sense.

so i'm thinking of actually de-synching the movie, and exhibit a desynchronised movie where at one point it will meet up and synch up. to make it a little cheeky, i'm planning to propogating a list of timeslots where the movie will meet up and list the screening times. also as part of the ornaments, i'll put a clock on the wall in between both tv's.

now back to the current problem - i can't get plinths or pedestals. i've asked for a rental quote which they have yet to respond. so fuck em. i'm considering 2 options a) build it at the workshop b) use my existing stool/desk. i'm soleaning towards the 2nd option, why the fuck should i waste time building a plinth when i should be putting final touches to it. am also thinking about finishing the exhibition off with a bean bag in front of the tv's. i'll see how it pans out the next couple of days.

note to brain : switch off work NOW.

deciding to email the AV tech at AUT was a good choice, had i planned it last minute, i don;t think i would have gotten 2 tv's with 2 players. and i've found another fellow metalhead in him.

right. i haven't done this in awhile.

on the download tray : dandy warhols
jacked in : six.by seven, the killers.
recently bought: fudge tunnel/fudgecake (fudgetunnel EP on 7" & the sweet sound of excess on 12") and six.by seven/the way i feel today (double limited album from AU)

it's funny i spent $12 on these 2 rare albums and it's the first LP's i bought since ...... 1997. gosh. but i like six.by seven they sound like a mix of palette of indie. i am addicted to the killers/hot fuss. if you haven't listened to them, please do. they are not franz ferdinand but they sort of belong in the same category. tracks to listen to - all these things that i've done, glamorous indie rock & roll and believe me natalie .... just listen to the whole album. it's an old album (2004) but i only caught them when i was watching jamie oliver's school dinners as his theme song (how appropriate) and this is a band recommended by the AV tech - Lucid 3* they sound like the kills.

It's Indie rock'n'roll for me
It's all I need
Makin' up, breakin' up, what do you care
What do you care?
It's Indie rock'n'roll for me
