Ahh.. the weekend

Woke up to a blistering warm day, "fat men hate to sweat" - Jim rose twisted tour's yo-yo master Cappy; had a real all niter yesterday, 200 students to check and made sure comments sound NICE. since when has education become NICE? { no -no you can't put down negative in-your face comments, why? ..the ever famous words - they pay your salary!} hmm BUMMER! whatever! am i a lying sack of shit? err yes because you pay me to paint pretty words in your assignment comments. then there's the ones that really deserve praise but i guess they won't really know cus i'm a paid for being a lying sack of shit. I'm getting the hint that kiwi teens, can't take negative comments; if the work was crap i had to say "good work but you need to try harder at making the project work!" as far as i remembered, my malaysian ex-students had a lashing from me - if it was crap, i'd tell them it's crap please do it again! heck some even slammed the top of a monitor or made male teen adults cry to get their point across .... but you know what? i may be an arsehole but i made you WORK for your grade, why? because in the real world your GRADE is your salary and if you don't make the cut then you're outta the game.

This really made remembered how i made my first buck, fresh outta college with an advertising & graphic design diploma, i made at least 50 floppy disks with my portfolio and packaging design to accompany it. It read "your guide to the digital age". all the cutting, spray mounting and fuckin stamp licking got my first job at DMB&B for a measly RM900. did i frown? no! i enjoyed 6 years of it{with increment of course}. Now i receive emails with cover letters made from templates and a stale looking CV. what happened to the creativity? did the computer make life so easy that none of us can think of a different way to market ourselves? or viewing a CV online is considered mucho excellente? im so complacent.

recently i told 3 girls to change their html code because i couldn't see the files they wanted to show. it's just a simple change of source paths. So these 3 girls are pretty tight {not what u think}/close to each other. they sit together, go to class together. so when i told them they had the same problem of wrong source paths, one of them had to loudly reply "OH, WONDER HOW THIS PROBLEM ENDED UP TO ONLY 3 OF US, EH?" honestly do they think i'm stupid? or are they just that shallow? even my niece can pick out that 3 of them copied from one source. this made me laugh the whole night, i wonder did it make the 3 ladies laugh as hard as it did before realising that the joke was on them?

Read an article about work related stress. funnily it says "if a job deadline is looming, you've worked on it for more than 8 hours, forget about it and go fishing." WOW! culture difference or not, this just attests to my deduction that many *here WILL NEVER be able to hack it in Malaysia. a deadline is a dealine, you miss it, your arse is on the line. i'm happy. happy that i can keep a deadline no matter how tight it is and still throw a hook during the weekend.

* to my ex students at LUCT, if i've ever been an arsehole to you, I'M SORRY!
