a bone to pick with people who would speak to you in a foreign slang from upper side east of the south coast when you know deep down inside he/she is from the upper west side of juru, klang. what the fuck, people? is being a Malaysian so shameful? that you have to change your name and adopt your husband's name? Which i might add is the ultimate insult to your family and culture to whom you spent your childhood life. I may not have understood what took place in your childhood but seriously no matter the torrid time when we were young, it's our memories and i'd carry my surname proudly because it's not called family for fucks, yeah? it's not called generations for fucks either.
im actually ashamed for your children living with the contention of presumption; not knowing that their mums or dads came from Ulu Selangor but rather the 'dignified' United States. Whilst having your husband or wife's 'mat salleh'ed name may give you confidence; deep down when you bleed out, your dna is still your mum and dad from Kampung Risah, Ampang Lama. It is who you are, aren't you proud of it?
