of late 30's, kids and wedding dinners

i had a pretty good night yesterday, a little skeptical but nevertheless enjoyed it. my brother's best friend got married and hold o behold i had to become the emcee yesterday. now granted that i've taught groups of students (approx. 1000+ over the span of 7.5 years) but i've never addressed a hall of old foggies drinking hennesy and not understanding "england". you get the drift. foggies ain't the same as students.

the dinner started off pretty hectic, safe to say i didn't know what the fuck i was doing. running like a headless chicken; dvd, mics, when to come in, when to leave. shit. this coupled with a co-emcee that didn't do shit and i had to get her every fucking time to come up.

but it wasn't all that bad. the ss2 gang briefly revived; older, wiser and lugging children on their shoulders. yup how we have all changed. 15 years ago, without children, without hesitation; cigarette in hand and whiskey in the other. we would have drunk the night away, fired up our cars, have the customary supper at SS2 mamak, drank more, smoked more, BKT in the morning and jet-skiing in the afternoon. times a changing, we are changing. most of us, reminiscent of old days not regretful of what we did as we look forward to our late 30's.

shit, we are the foggies! now it's only a matter of time before some young 20 something punk comes up figures it out. till then i'll enjoy my late 30's just at a slower and healthier pace.
