in my life, i strive for professionalism in every aspect of work. when i start work to the very day i leave. in 1996, when i left the advertising firm i was pissed coupled with being young, it was disastrous. i learnt that the director went through our drawers, as much as i am professional at work i want the company to be professional with us as well. so i threw in my letter in a fit and was called down. the then womaniser kenny lee questioned my loyalty to him and why i didn't step up. i told fuck off, you wanna talk about loyalty when you went thru our drawers looking for freelance work, you just threw loyalty outta the window. he gave me a 24 hour notice eventhough i had a month.
over the years i learnt that being brash just doesnt cut it; when at HLYB sungai buloh i had it all, assistant manager to a really good boss that taught me everything about selling my self. the ex navy man once told me money is everywhere on the streets, roads, pathway; you just need to open your eyes. he had done some deals but because the company was so straight laced they just couldn't understand. they fired him after 2 years, after bringing in much needed cash. they looked to me for answers, i thought injustice had be casted and threw in my letter in protest. the directors couldn't understand it. i told then i wanted to go because if the company doesn't trust my boss, it meant they didn't trust me either. of course after that i wrote a nasty letter to all dealers, to which the COO called me to ask me why, i told him i had my reason and he just hung up. --> see young and brash doesn't cut it.
so now i run a faculty with 30 odd staff, things never do change. i recently received a couple of resignations, of which 2 no one could have stopped. but i relatively pissed at another 2. no matter how much we hate the company, the people it shouldn't really stop you from being professional. finish up your notice period as you would normally but no we have arseholes who refuse to dress in proper conduct, does whatever and wherever he/she pleases, decides not to turn for work, constantly taking leave etc. the guys may have left but i wouldn't recommend them anywhere; the grass is always greener outside but one thing doesn't change you attitude and your responsibility. so yes i am pissed but i am glad as well because i no longer have to deal with prima donna's like you both. so good luck and good riddance.
funnily i am serving my notice period now as well; but i'm still turning up for work and working towards the handover. just no meetings.
