A teenager whose high-speed drink-driving left his girlfriend in hospital is promising to drink and drive again.
* story here
this dude must not be very fucking smart, truth be told he must be enjoying his publicity so much so it made him more stupid than he already is. he's now a target for all coppers for the rest of his life; in all reality he can't even have more than 2 beers without being stopped every 5kms. what a stupid dickhead! imagine having a fuckin target on your car and your name. the sad thing is when he'll be so convinced the government is against him, which will reverberate to his children. stupid fucker.
if you don't already know, im on a dvd marathon (well not marathon) but trying to catch up with newer releases; starting from 2004 makes it a marathon sort of.

i love film noir but brick made me look really stupid and confused. this flick is so fuckin artsy fartsy with the long camera pauses and the dialogue. director rian johnson tries to bring the bogart style of dialogue into a 90's highschool, it didn't produce anything for me. the riddling 50's noir dialogue is spoken slower (for suspense) but brick just sounds like some white boy rap gone bad. if you loved lost highway or any of david lynch's masterpiece, you might enjoy this but i probably was too fuckin tired to 'analyse' this.

some say that lucky number slevin, there was too much talking but i like this film; actually it felt a little boring in the middle but that's what film noir is meant to be. plot building. unlike brick this was "hollywood-ised" as some would say. now 'hollywood' isn't a bad thing, it just merely means it suitable for mass audiences, no no sorry it means majority would be able to understand it as opposed leaving the cinema dazed and some woman in a feather boa saying "it's art darling". the plot was expected, if you didn't then it's time to watch more noir thrillers. with characters like the rabbi, the boss and mr.goodkat it sounds like something from tarantino, close but no cigar.
the dialogue that turn it for me was, when morgan freeman(the boss) walked down the stairs and josh hartnett (slevin) looking.
slevin: who are you?
the boss : i'm the boss
(looking at a BIG samoan thug)
slevin: i thought he was the boss
the boss : why do we look alike?
if you are looking for action packed flick, forget it ok. it is the dialogue, so if you did not like pulp fiction or reservoir dogs(i know a few that don't, pffft!!), forget it.
so as mr.goodkat says,"im here for the kansas city shuffle". what is it? "kansas city shuffle means everyone looks right, you go left".

on to the last flick - green street hooligans, i love british films not because im a boring person but i guess i get british humour. this is not humorous but getting an american to play a role in this brit film is. elijah wood plays a screwed over yank (american) expelled from harvard, travels to UK and gets mixed up with football hooligans (don't let them hear you call it soccer!? who? the british empire). aside from the fighting; loyalty, friendship, acceptance and family are core plots of the flick. i found it not bad not because it's about football but the way the story is told. directed lexi alexander, it's not everyday a former karate expert and kickboxer gets to direct a violent flick, her shots (yes, she) are very well planned so that you see pure fighting.
You know the best part? It isn't knowing that your friends have your back. It's knowing that you have your friends' back.
