i dunno

you know those words form what seems to be a typical mindset which you think can get you out of trouble. i have come to hate those words immensely over the last couple of weeks only because students use it too often as a retort to someone teaching you web design for instance.

hand raised - what's wrong with my tables, all my images and cell line up except this the last cell. the teacher takes a look and spots a common sense mistake. the image is 40 pixels in width and the cell is 60 pixels in width. so what is wrong? why won't the cell snap to the image? + i dunno + let me try again, this time with hand gestures, the picture is 40 pixel wide and table cell(in which the picture is in) is 60 pixels wide; what's wrong? + I duNNo + for fucks sake, this time with drawings on the board, a drawing of a image and arrows side to side with 40 pixels written over it; another box over it with arrows side to side with 60 pixels written over it - what the fuck is wrong with the picture? + i dunno + :: at this point, my heart was working doubly hard to replenish the pint of vomitted blood on the carpet.

blame the language barrier, blame me talking too fast, blame the english language, blame the computer but heaven forbid you should blame the individual's common sense and the use of "i dunno".

+ the hypocritical me +

i use "i dunno" when i just want to get out of something e.g. meeting or a conversation

i use "anything" when everyone is undecided e.g. what you feel like eating? uhm anything. a phrase which we are all guilty of.

i try not to use "whatever" as a conversation stopper e.g. hey you hair looks weird today. yeah whatever!

so i dunno ... whatever,(nods and shakes head) anything ....
