Conversations with Dick

the highlight of my week was entering dick smith @ st.lukes and watching a middle aged indian couple unleashing verbal rage onto a salesgirl. what a pity! she did everything textbook but the guy was having none of it. as i walked in midway of the confrontation, i was clueless but yet stood there like a paying spectator. here's some excerpts:

Conversations with Dick
Legend : Indian Guy (IG), Sales Girl(SG), Store Manager (SM) and Sales Boy (SB)

IG: (yelling)I don't care, you said today, so i came today.
SG: Sir, if you calm down we will be able to process this.
SB: (scratching his head)
IG: (yelling)I don't care ... look, (at this time he's pointing his fingers and the whole store is looking at him) i want it today!
SM: gets up from his station, sir please calm down.
IG: don't be asking me to calm down, (muffled ....)
SM: (pointing his finger to the doorway) please get out of here, you're not welcome here. don't come back.
IG: (walking off in distance tugged by his wife)...muff muff muff
SM: (looking at SG) that's how you deal with it!
SG: runs off to the bathroom, presumably to cry and wondering why the fuck did she go to work today.
SM: (back to his customer) some people are so rude.

+thoughts+ very entertaining but yet expected. if there's one thing i learnt is to never to yell or unleash fury at service staff; the things they can do in retailiation is damaging. sure service staff brave customer's razor tongue comments and get hurled abuses but perhaps each one of us should watch the movie "waiting" by Rob McKittrick which stars Ryan Reynolds (from the 2 Guys, a girl and a pizza place). Having been in a service industry for 6 months (i worked at 1Utama TGV), safe to say i will NOT be eating any popcorn coming from there neither will i pay for any drinks from that establishment. so back to the girl, she may have fucked up; i don't know but the one thing, yelling & screaming will not do is make the resolution faster. afterall that is the whole point of screaming and yelling in the first place, to resolve the issue. so please be nice to service staff because you'll never know what's gonna end up on your plate.
