i really should get back to work

i'm taking too long of a break to recuperate. excuses, excuses. someone should really crack the whip. Anyway i've got substanstial feedback from the screens, a lot of which is valid and a constant reminder that i haven't done an animation in yonks.

feedback.
- the panel square on mov.1 should be moved up so that the viewer is able to recognise that it is a square. (i learnt to say square and not box)

- the consistency of the stroke/outline should be smiliar and not mixed line strength. the screens are supposed to be viewed together and should not have elements that throw the viewers off.

- the surrounding of the room where the thug is standing needs to look different so that it wouldn't be confused with the POV mov.2 surroundings.

- i actually noticed this but not the others, Mickey Knix is wearing sleeves and when he checks his watch and knocks the door; his sleeves are missing.

- the fast cut between mickey answering the door and the door knob appearing is too confusing. so i've made the speech bubble on the left and the door knob on the same frame but with toned down opacity and when the bubble fades off the door knob fades in; the viewer should be able to connect temporally the character is at the same time and space.

- the style of transition should really look like a smooth movement and not a mix of both as it confuses the perception of time & space beyween 2 characters.

to experiment.
1) i'm thinking of emulating a transition of page turns minus the flipping so it would actually be a movement from right to left. the problem is timing the transition as i'm working on 2 different files. the dopesheet will take care of this problem.

2) taking out the panel squares and using the entire screen as the panel. the perception of a comic book will then be lost but i'm sure there are other elements that will associate itself with comics i.e. fonts, graphics.

3) fast cuts? just afraid it may be too fast to notice.

4) sliding transitions. i won't know the purpose till i actually do it.

off to work then.
